  • 01\/07\/1925.- Foundation of the Association of Mexican University Women at the invitation of the International Federation of University Women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1927.- Incorporation of the Association of Mexican University Women to the International Federation of University Women under the management of Professor Guadalupe Jim\u00e9nez Posadas. Mexico was the first Latin American country to join. Followed by Brazil (1931), Argentina and Uruguay (1938)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1928.- Creation of \u201cLa Hora del Cuento\u201d, a weekly children's story reading workshop in the public libraries of Mexico City<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1930.- Foundation of the Workshop School for Workers and Employees. Free courses were given in elementary subjects as well as practical industries (making hats, gloves, bags, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1930.- Publication of the First Bimonthly Bulletin of the Association of Mexican University Women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1932.- Publication of the Anthology commemorating the first centenary of Goethe's death, by the Association of Mexican University Women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1932.- The poet Jos\u00e9 N\u00fa\u00f1ez y Dom\u00ednguez dedicated a cycle of Lectures on French women to the AUM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1933.- The publication of Mexican Universities begins: Bimonthly Magazine of Scientific-Artistic Culture by the AUM<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1934.- Opening of a dining room for low-income students served by members. Three meals a day were offered for $15.00 a month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1934.- Series of Lectures for the centenary of the death of Ignacio Manuel Altamirano.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1938.- The AUM Organizes the Cycle of Cultural Conferences dedicated to Junior High Schools. Two conferences were given: The vocational orientation of Mexican Women, by Prof. Esther Santiago and The education of Mexican women as the only means of effective liberation, by Dr. Luz Vera.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1939.- Opening of the \u201cInstituto Universitarias Mexicanas\u201d dedicated to the teaching of Foreign Languages, with address at 99 Doncelles Street (it did not prosper for political reasons).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1939.- Under the president of Professor Otilia Boone, the Association of Mexican University Women acquires Legal Personhood before a notary public.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1939.- The AUM representation is a special guest at the Annual Summer Dinner of the American Association of University Women, which was held in Pennsylvania with the theme \u201cMexico, our International Neighbor.\u201d The Mexican Consul Dr. E. Trevi\u00f1o and the steering committee of St. Louis University were present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1941.- Collaboration with the Ministry of Public Assistance in a collection to found the Hospital for Incurables, in which he managed to raise almost $5,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1943.- Foundation, under the presidency of Ma. Teresa Ch\u00e1vez, of the Casa de las Universitarias Mexicanas to house groups of young university students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1947.- The AUM collaborated with the Ten Million Campaign (to raise funds for UNAM) by contributing $2,500<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1949.- Sending money and clothing to the International Federation of University Women to alleviate the situation of European university women during World War II.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1948.- Foundation of AUM Branches in the interior of the Republic: Monterrey, Guadalajara, San Luis Potos\u00ed, Toluca and Pachuca.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1951.- The AUM promotes and organizes all the celebrations that took place in Mexico on the occasion of the third centenary of the birth of Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1952.- Publication of the biography of Sor Juana In\u00e9s de la Cruz edited in spanish by the UNAM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1955.- Se forma la Asociaci\u00f3n de Universitarias de Puebla, cuya presidencia inici\u00f3 a cargo de la Dra. Evellia Gil y Barbosa. En Diciembre del mismo a\u00f1o se inicia un ciclo de conferencias sobre temas variados (Sociolog\u00eda, Arquitectura, bot\u00e1nica)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1957.- With donations from Dr. Ma. De la Luz Grovas and the UNAM, the residence located at Av. R\u00edo de la Magdalena No. 100 was acquired. It was declared the headquarters of the AUM and was called \u201cCasa de la Estudiante Universitaria Ma. De la Luz Grovas\".<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1962.- Under the presidency of Dr. Mar\u00eda de la Luz Grovas, the XIV IFUW Conference was held in Mexico City, the first conference organized in a Latin American country. The then President of the Republic, Adolfo L\u00f3pez Mateos attended the inauguration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1967.- Under the presidency of Dr. Paula G\u00f3mez Alonso, the construction of a new building for the AUM headquarters begins with the purpose of expanding the residence hall and offering cultural and social services. The building was located on San Luis Potos\u00ed Street No. 211.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1971.- Under the presidency of Ms. Aurora Fern\u00e1ndez, the Federation of University Women of Mexico is formed, made up of 37 branches in the Mexican Republic. The name and constitution of the Federation were legalized before a Public Notary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1972.- Dr. Mariane O. de Bopp creates the \u201cArchive of Mexican Women\u201d with 20,000 consultation cards at the service of the members of the FUM. The cards were available to researchers who requested them at the headquarters of the Federation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 1975.- IFUW representatives meet in Mexico City for the World Women's Conference. That same year is declared International Women's Year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • 1994\/06\/13: creation of Fortaleza, the IAP Comprehensive Care Center for Women, serves women and their children, victims of domestic violence, through legal, psychological and social help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 1994\/01\/21: It was presented to the SEP the proposal to include Environmental Education and Human Rights in the study programs from the preschool level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 1994: Demanded compliance with the Professions Law for nursing graduates; the accreditation and certification of Mexican chemical companies at an international level and the updating of the Technical Advisory Commissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 1994\/03\/09: thanks to its research \u201cWomen and Development\u201d, CONACyT repealed the age limit of 35 years so that women could obtain scholarships to study postgraduate studies, by demonstrating the problems that women faced in their growing up years of their children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • 2001: Holding the Seminar \u201cWomen in Today's Mexico\u201d in Mexico City and \u201cHumanism, globalization and empowerment\u201d in the city of Oaxaca.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 2001: the artists Guillermo Ceniceros, Jos\u00e9 Luis Cuevas, Martha Chapa, Esther Gonz\u00e1lez, Frida Hartz, Federico Silva, Sebasti\u00e1n and Francisco Toledo, as well as Young Artists Conarte headed by Patricia Quijano and the Association of Creators of the Plastic Arts headed by Lucille Wong, donated their works to create the Women's Museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • 2003: the radio show \u201cMujeres a la Tribuna\u201d began broadcasting through Radio Ciudadana. FEMU was the first civil society organization to achieve this goal. The first program was dedicated to femicides in Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • 2006\/05: FEMU inaugurated the exhibition \u201cThe Struggle of Women in Mexico\u201d at the Museum of Mexico City with a synthesis of the history of Mexico, through photo-murals and reproduction of texts, from its pre-Hispanic antecedents and novo Hispanics until women got the right to vote. The exhibition has toured 18 states of the country in order to promote the creation of women's museums in the states of the Republic.
      Within the framework of the exhibition, conferences have been held on the situation of women in Mexico, book presentations and feminist film series.
      The Women's Museum project is part of the Women's Museum Network founded in Merano, Italy in 2008.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 2007: Participation in the XXVIII GWI Triennial Congress \u201cWorking on the Millennium Development Goals\u201d, held in Manchester, England.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • 2007: National Seminar \u201cThe Reproductive Rights of Women in Mexico\u201d in Acapulco, Guerrero.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • 2010: Mexico hosted the XXX IFUW Triennial Congress \u201cEducation, Development and Empowerment. Dr. Patricia Galeana was appointed vice president of IFUW, the first Latin American to occupy a place on the Board of Directors of the Organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

Marcelo Ebrard, head of the DF Department, inaugurated the Women's Museum. The first exhibition presented by the Museum was titled \u201cWomen for Women\u201d, which contains part of the private collection of artistic works of the FEMU.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
